Pataphysical Explorations to Disrupt Reality in the Most Unproductive Ways
Join us at UMMA on Valentine’s Day for some radical pataphysical explorations designed to put reality slightly out of kilter. Experimental poet Christian Bök (University of Calgary), art historian David Doris (UM), and music performance professor Stephen Rush (UM) will fuse presentation and performance in a wide-ranging program inspired by ‘Pataphysics, a philosophical precursor of Dada, Surrealism, and Futurism.
- BrakesMusik SpannerPflug, a new Pataphysical work (Stephen Rush's Sound Movement Class)
- The Turd Polishers of Saint-Étienne (David Doris)
- The Xenotext Project (Christian Bök)
This event is cosponsored by the Avant Garde Interest Group and the University of Michigan Department of English and is supported by a generous grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
