Honors and Awards for Superior Academic Achievement
The College acknowledges the superior academic achievement of its students in a variety of ways. These include the awarding of departmental academic awards, university honors, honors at graduation, election to national honor societies, the LSA Current Student Scholarships, and special awards. Transfer credit does not count for honors.
- Honors Convocation
- James B. Angell Scholars
- University Honors Designation
- William J. Branstrom Award
These national scholarship programs accept applications only from students who have been endorsed by the University of Michigan. There is an internal competition for most of these awards and the UM deadlines are set considerably earlier than the national deadlines to accommodate this process. There is information about these and other scholarship opportunities, including awards specifically for LSA Honors students, at www.lsa.umich.edu/honors/currentstudents/scholarshipinformation.
