He is also a research scientist  from the National Observatory in Río de Janeiro, Brazil, a scientist at Eureka Scientific, and a visiting professor at the University of Alabama. His research emphases include high-energy astrophysics, the origin and evolution of clusters and groups of galaxies, and cosmological surveys. He serves as the scientific co-director of the Javalambre Physics of the Accelerating Universe Astronomical Survey (J-PAS) from the Javalambre Astronomical Observatory in Spain, a stage IV cosmological experiment that will provide spectrophotometric data on hundreds of millions of galaxies up to z>1.2 in the northern sky.
