Our objective is to further develop students proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Portuguese, while reviewing finer points of grammar within the functional use of language. Students read, write a summary and discuss in class cronicas, contemporary literature and journalistic prose, further practicing the linguistic skills learned in PORTUG 231, by hypothesizing, discussing abstract topics and handling linguistically unfamiliar situations. We watch authentic videos and some feature films as well.

Grading is based on regular attendance, class participation, oral presentations, short papers, home assignments, quizzes, a midterm, and a final examination.

Text is Via Brasil, by Lima and Iunes, sold at Shaman Drum Bookstore.
