Primary Instructor:

This is an small intensive lab seminar in ethnographic research and analysis methods using materials from a collaborative medical anthropology, environmental health study in Mexico City conducted by the course instructor. Students are trained in qualitative data analysis and learn about contemporary Mexico City, environmental health research, food and water systems and ethnographic analysis methods. Students will develop individualized projects based on course materials using methods learned throughout the course. To apply for a position interested students need read the Mexican Exposures website throughly https://sites.lsa.umich.edu/mexican-exposures. Please pay special attention to the lab page and lab requirements including; reading the two required texts and availability for 5-6 lab coding hours a week beyond the weekly lab meeting. Students need to read in Spanish or have a background or interest in STS (Science Technology Studies). Background in social theory a plus.
