This course explores developments in the European art-music tradition from the early classical period to ca. 1930. The aim of the course is to familiarize you with representative music from the time period and to introduce historical, political, cultural, and artistic trends that helped to shape this repertory. The course should refine your analytical, interpretative, listening, and writing skills by building upon the foundation established in MUSICOL 139, 140, and 239.
