This course's objective is to prepare students who will be working in medical-related fields to interact with the French-speaking population. Students will develop linguistic and cultural proficiency to enable them to communicate effectively in French, in situations relating to the medical professions.
Medical French will focus on cultural differences between France and the US, such as Health Care, medical and paramedical professions, medication and treatment, nutrition, and doctor-patient relationships. We will also talk about France's response to the Covid-19 outbreak and explore how the governmental decisions have affected the functioning of the healthcare system in place.
Course Requirements:
Assignments: readings and videos; vocabulary, grammar; speaking evaluations (mid-semester presentation, end of semester speaking); writings and discussions; cultural activities.
