Different kinds of travellers have long set out and returned home to tell of their adventures, experiences that range across time and space. But other kinds of journey and telling happen mostly in the mind.
Through an array of readings and short assignments, our seminar will explore human memory and tellings. The narratives of past adventures will invited us to consider not only their authors, but also the trajectories of our own lives and perspectives as journeys and stories.
Our seminar is discussion-centered, reading- and writing-intensive. It features a series of creative research and writing opportunities. It is designed to inspire in you a width of curiosity and to instill confident, complex thinking about self and others.
