Amsterdam: Tolerance in the Triple X City tells the story of the Dutch capital's diversity and multiculturalism through its social, political, and religious history.
It is the only course taught with this emphasis in the U.S.
Intended Audience:
The seminar will be interesting to students who want to learn about a major European city, who want to carefully examine stereotypes of Dutch tolerance (e.g., sex education, prostitution and drug policies, gay rights, end of life rights), and who want to become familiar with important race and ethnicity questions outside of the U.S.
The course is taught in English.
