Sustainable Food, Culture, and the Environment
This course will examine the relationship between food and our environment, as well as how they intertwine in our culture and different cultures around the world. The main question we will be asking ourselves throughout the course is, “How do we affect food and our environment, and in turn, how does it affect our cultural practices and beliefs?” We will explore topics ranging from different cooking techniques around the world using what is available, to questions such as, “Are table manners important?” By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the interconnectedness between cultures and food, as well as how we can connect over eating.
