Description

This interdisciplinary course for undergraduate students, designated by the section title and taught by a Judaic Studies regular or visiting faculty member, may include fields such as philosophy, film and video, literature, history, political science, etc., as they pertain to Judaic Studies.

Although taught in English, this course will be enriched the by experience and background of the faculty member involved. As the topics are wide and varied, so is the opportunity to explore the richness of what is offered. In addition to the U-M faculty who teach this course, students will have the chance to work with scholars from around the world including Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, to name a few.

Course Requirements:

The course requirements will vary based on the topic and instructor, and may include exams, research papers, response papers, etc.

Intended Audience:

Undergraduate students at any level

Class Format:

Class hours will coincide with the number of credits offered (e.g., 3 hours per week for 3 credits).

Note: This course will be taught primarily in French so students should have at least a conversational level of French. Students taking this course for Judaic Studies credit will, however, be allowed to do all their readings, class participation, and assignments in English, if they so choose. However, students will need to know some French to fully take part in discussions. Registration for Judaic 318.010 will require instructor permission.
