This course is aimed at intermediate Russian-speaking students who wish to attain a working knowledge of Ukrainian. Because of the similarity between the two languages, Russian speakers will progress through the Ukrainian language sequence of courses at a very fast rate and will be able to comprehend, read, write, and communicate at a higher proficiency level in a shorter period of time. Lexicon building, proper pronunciation, and intonation, and conscious recognition of differences between Russian and Ukrainian will be emphasized. Please contact course instructor Svitlana Rogovyk with any questions (srogovyk@umich.edu).
Please email sll.ugrad@umich.edu if you need a permission to enroll in this course.
Scholarships are available for Ukrainian students who take two consecutive terms of the Ukrainian language; more information is available on the Ukrainian scholarship webpage.
Intended Audience:
This course is for you if you are an intermediate Ukrainian and/or Russian learner, heritage speaker of Ukrainian and/or Russian, a graduate student with East Slavic language knowledge experience, or a professional with some knowledge of Russian and/or Ukrainian.
