Description

The contemporary Mediterranean region represents a critical laboratory for issues such as migration, religion, mass tourism, authoritarianism, and environmental change. This course offers students the opportunity to explore and research historical processes, such as colonialism and war, that have defined the modern Mediterranean as a key strategic zone of political, cultural and economic transition. In developing research projects tailored around their interests, students will be encouraged to think broadly about what constitutes historical sources, including visual materials (paintings, photos, films), landscapes, and oral testimonies.
