This course examines the psychological factors that contribute to intergroup conflict and inequality. The course explores major theories in intergroup relations, including social dominance theory, social identity theory, and system justification theory, as well as evolutionary and social-cognitive factors undergirding group-based conflict. These theories will be brought to bear to understand contemporary intergroup phenomena (e.g., related to racial politics and multiracialism).
