Friday, May 1st will be a day full of events associated with the Undergrad and Grad graduation. The students and their families would really appreciate your presence!! Please come to at least some of the events!!! It is a very nice and joyful experience.
Outline of Commencement Events
MITRE Undergraduate Research Network Symposium 10:00-11:00am in Foster Library (265 Lorch Hall)
Michigan Institute of Teaching and Research Economics (MITRE) will hold its second annual poster session featuring research conducted by undergraduate students who worked with faculty members on a wide variety of economics research projects. This event will conclude with a student or group of students winning the best poster prize for MITRE. Honors Reception 12:00-1:30pm in Foster Library (265 Lorch Hall)
This reception recognizes the Department’s 2015 undergraduate award recipients and Economics students graduating with Honors.
MAE and PhD Graduation Ceremony 1:30-3:00pm Askwith Auditorium (140 Lorch; doors open at 1:00 PM)
The event will start with a processional of graduate students from both the PhD and Master’s of Applied Economics programs. During the ceremony, each graduate will have his/her name announced as they walk across the stage to receive a congratulatory certificate. PhD students will be joined on stage by one or more of their committee members to say a few words about the student and their dissertation research. This event will be streamed live online
MAE and PhD Reception 3-4:30pm in Foster Library (265 Lorch Hall)
This reception is a celebration for our graduate students and their families - all are welcome!
Commencement Ceremony at Power Center Starting at 8pm - Doors open at 7:30pm
The program begins with a faculty and graduate processional. The Commencement speaker will be Dr Jan Gerson. During the program, each graduate will have his/her name announced as they walk across the stage to receive a congratulatory certificate. Please allow 1.5-2 hours for the event. Tickets are required for the event at Power Center! Any guests who do not have a ticket are invited to watch the event from the Rackham Auditorium where we will live-broadcast the commencement.
