  • Garden Ambassador Training - volunteer opportunity
    Join us as we create a welcoming atmosphere in the gardens! As a Garden Ambassador, you’ll enjoy the beauty of the Matthaei’s display gardens while you invite visitors to take a closer look. Training provides an introduction to the Visitor Services Dept., best practices for working with the public, and an overview of the most popular points of interest in the display gardens, Gaffield Children’s Garden and beyond.  We are looking for volunteers with a love of learning and interest in working with a diverse population of visitors, including many children and families. Free.

    Two Options: 

    Wed., April 23 
    Sat., April 26
    Each training session is 9:00 – 4:00pm with lunch break.


    Monthly garden tours/talks will be led by our horticulturists throughout the season. Shifts are available 7 days per, May – October.

  • Ann Arbor Bonsai Society with Greg Afman
    All invited to hear Greg Afman discuss his experiences in Japan, his bonsai apprenticeship, and the American/Japanese perspective on bonsai. In the auditorium at Matthaei 7 pm. Arrive by 6:30 PM to speak with members. Presented by Ann Arbor Bonsai Society. Free.
