The Organizational Studies Program Application for Fall 2016 is now OPEN!

The deadline for application submission is Monday, January 18, 2016.

The online application opens in the Fall semester, and the application deadline is in mid-January of each year. This allows students ample time to assemble their application materials. Remember that students are strongly encouraged to apply during the sophomore year. Students will need to be registered on the Ann Arbor campus for at least three full semesters (fall/winter semesters) following the term in which they are admitted.

Complete the online application form.  Click on the link above to start your application.  You may work on the application incrementally and save your application progress, returning to the application site as many times as needed to complete your application.

Upload the application essay. The essay is an important part of the application, so it should be carefully prepared. The application provides instructions for you to upload your OS application essay according to specific guidelines, which should be followed carefully. The OS Program does not provide any advice about the content of the essay to prospective applicants, as the Admissions Committee is not looking for any specific answer to the essay question but rather wishes to read students’ original and thoughtful responses.

Upload your resume. The Admissions Committee is looking for students' interests outside of the classroom.  Students should highlight any extracurricular or work activities in which they have been involved. The application provides instructions for you to upload your resume.

The application process also includes a transcript review, but you do not need to send any transcripts to the OS Program. By submitting the OS application, you give permission for the OS Program to access your UM transcript, and any transcripts from other institutions that have been received at UM. If you have attended another institution but the transcript has not yet been received at UM, please notify the OS Program at

Admissions Notification.  Students will be notified by email typically the week before spring break. This will permit students the opportunity to plan their following fall semester based on the outcomes of the Admission Committee's decision. Please contact the OS Program at if you have any questions about the application or the admissions process.
