  • Description:

    Screenwriter Guy Meirson will introduce the recent Israeli film Rock the Casbah. Set during the first Intifada in 1989, the film focuses on a group of young soldiers trying to make sense of the political and existential situation in which they suddenly find themselves.

    Rock the Casbah was nominated for the Israeli Film Award ("Ophir") in 2012 and won the Award for Best Film from the International Confederation of Art Cinemas at this year's Berlin Film Festival. The film has played at numerous film festivals and opened in Israel and France, but has not yet been released in the United States.

    Guy Meirson is an Israeli screenwriter and author; he is currently the Schusterman Visiting Israeli Artist at MSU.
