How to Apply

The MLC application is now open and you do not need to submit an enrollment deposit before applying. Apply here

Important Note: A separate application to University Housing is required to secure a room for the academic year. Please visit the Housing website for more information and click here for information on current Housing Rates.

Early Review Deadline: April 7, 2024 at 11:59pm (EST). Students who apply for a MLC by the early deadline will know their status by April 17, 2024.

Final Deadline: May 6, 2024 at 11:59 PM (EST). Students who apply for a MLC by the final deadline will know their status by May 17, 2024. We encourage scholars who apply after the deadline due to late admissions to the University of Michigan to still apply. You will hear status updates on a rolling basis.

MLC Application Essay:

The Michigan Learning Communities are committed to building communities of engaged and enthusiastic students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. In what ways would you contribute to your Michigan Learning Community and bring a unique perspective or viewpoint? (suggested word count: 150-350 words)

BSP Essay Prompt:

In Bridge Scholars Plus, scholars will work individually or in small groups to develop a project aimed at creating a positive impact in the world and pitch their ideas for a chance to win up to $10,000 to continue growing their project.

Generate a list of 1-3 social challenges or opportunities (examples can include, but are not limited to, healthcare, mental health, education, racial equity, housing insecurity, civic engagement, the environment, etc.) that you might be interested in exploring as a member of Bridge Scholars Plus and share why these areas interest you. Don't worry, there are no right or wrong answers! (50-150 words recommended)
