The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) creates research partnerships between first and second year students, and faculty, research scientist, and staff from across the University of Michigan community. All schools and colleges are active participants in UROP, thereby providing a wealth of research topics from which a student can choose. Begun in 1988 with 14 student/faculty partnerships, today, approximately 1300 students and over 700 faculty researchers are engaged in research partnerships.
Detroit Community Based Research Program
Where research and community action meet! Students in this program are paired with community based organizations in Detroit to conduct key research in community-designed projects focused on issues such as urban development, environmental justice, food security, community assessment, sustainability, and more. You will work full-time on a research project for your organization, and also spend time contributing to the overall operations of the organization. This is a great opportunity to have a research and internship experience all-in-one.
